First impression to being Basic is covered in images of pumpkin spice and handbag-stowed mammals, but being basic should have a much more empowering purpose. Being Basic should be a new badge of honor, a new meme or societal movement, that, just as the former vice president repeated it could demand change.
No call to arms here or pleas to contact your congressmen, because we are responsible for the choices we make. We decide what we buy, who we do business with and when possible, to engage in careers and work we are proud to support. We live in a world that is a reaction to our purchases and the contents of our mind. Without getting too cerebral, I argue all companies from Amazon to Zillow reflect us as a society. Being Basic is not blaming any company or business for any ails we wish to ascribe to the them, but tackling personal responsibility.
